When you use RELAY, we collect the following information to provide our SMS reminder service:

  • Phone number: Required to send and receive SMS messages.
  • Messages and reminders: The text content of reminders you create and conversation history with our assistant.
  • Saved places: Location labels and coordinates for place-based reminders.
  • Location pings: Approximate location data sent when you visit saved places, including latitude, longitude, and accuracy.
  • Account information: Your display name, timezone, and opt-in status.

2. SMS Notifications

RELAY sends SMS messages to your phone number for the following purposes:

  • Reminder alerts: Time-based reminders sent at the date and time you specify.
  • Location alerts: Reminders triggered when you arrive at a saved place.
  • Clarification messages: Follow-up questions if your reminder needs clarification.
  • Confirmation messages: Confirmations that a reminder has been set.

Message frequency depends entirely on the number and type of reminders you create. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply.

You can stop receiving messages at any time by texting STOP to our number. To resume service, text ASSIST. You can also manage reminders and opt-out preferences from your dashboard.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

  • Send SMS reminders at the right time or place.
  • Process and understand your reminder requests.
  • Maintain and secure your account.
  • Improve the accuracy and reliability of our assistant.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Sharing

We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate RELAY:

  • Twilio: We use Twilio to send and receive SMS messages. Twilio processes your phone number and message content solely for message delivery.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specific retention practices:

  • Account data: Retained until you delete your account or request deletion.
  • Reminders: Retained until completed or deleted by you. Completed reminders are kept for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
  • Conversation history: Retained for 90 days to support service improvement and troubleshooting, then deleted.
  • Location pings: Retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
  • Inactive accounts: If you opt out or remain inactive for 12 months, we may delete your account and associated data after providing notice.

You can delete your reminders, places, and conversation history at any time from your dashboard.

6. Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures:

  • Encrypted database storage with access controls.
  • Secure API endpoints with authentication.
  • Limited access to authorized systems and personnel only.
  • Regular security reviews and monitoring.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Update or correct inaccurate information.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your account and personal data.

The RELAY dashboard uses essential cookies and local storage for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics for profiling purposes.

RELAY is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.
